Former Congress MP dies in Basti

Basti, Nov 12(UNI) Former Congress member of Lok Sabha Ram Awadh Prasad died here today after a prolonged illness.

He was 70.

The septuagenarian started his political career in 1974 and was elected as ward member of the Nagarpalika Parishad, Basti. In 1984, he was elected as Member of Parliament from Basti reserved seat.

Mr Prasad served the Congress with full devotion throughout his life, while his father late Rampal was also a Congress MLA.

After the paralysis attack in 1982, he was not keeping well.

The late leader's body was kept at the party headquarter, where a large number of party workers paid homage to the departed soul.

His mortal remains were consigned to flames at the Saryu ghat in Ayodhya.
