Mumbai, Nov 12 (UNI) Television soap queen Ekta Kapoor says that the success of her serials like 'Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi' and 'Kahani Ghar Ghar Ki' was a distinct proof that audiences were rooted to their Indian family values.

Talking to reporters on the sets of 'Kahani Ghar Ghar Ki'which takes another 18 year leap from November 15, Ekta asserted that Indians are basically homebodies and attached to their family and personal relationships.

Ekta also stressed that both her soaps are watched keenly across the border in Pakistan as well.

She rejected criticism she resorted to gimmicks such as leaps when TRPs are low.

''Our shows are basically revolving around a central character and in daily soaps we show the character in all stages of her life from young to old. Besides, shows running successfully for six years need some refurbishment,'' she said and added that both the shows would continue to be aired till audiences want to see them.

Ekta said the character of Parvati played by Saakshi Tanwar was vulnerable which brings out protective instincts from the audience.

''She is the epitome of idealism and purity. While, Tulsi is a strong woman. In the new leap to be shown in 'Kahani....' Parvati will be shown donning a new image and attitude for a purpose,'' she added.

Fashion designer Manish Malhotra who has, for the first time, styled a television character said the image change was keeping in mind the age of the character and her inherent characteristics.

''The new look Parvati would be an inspiration to women who are growing older to look beautiful. The new look is being explained in the episodes,'' he said and added that he has not watched Ekta's serials. ''She is a friend and because of her I am doing television.

I have not watched her soaps because I have no time,'' he said.

Speaking about the difference between television and big screen, Manish said television focusses more on closeups of the character while in films, audience gets to see the character completely in one frame. ''It is a new medium and I am learning,'' he added. He said he had done the makeover of the female lead character of Ekta's earlier serial 'Kaisa Yeh Pyar Hai''.

Saakshi Tanwar who was also present on the occasion, said despite the new look, Parvati is not a changed woman from the point of view of her behaviour or ideals. ''Only change is the manner in which she handles crises and responds to situations,'' she added.

Ekta said actor-television producer Aroona Irani has joined the cast of 'Kahani.,...' along with the generation next. Irani will guide Parvati to overcome her troubles, Ekta said and added she was overwhelmed that the veteran actress agreed to her request of taking up the role.
