Surjit Singh Kohli likely to contest against CM in Patiala

Patiala, Nov 11 (UNI) Former Akali Minister Surjit Singh Kohli is likely to be fielded by the Shiromani Akali dal (SAD) against Punjab Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh from the Patiala constituency in the state assembly polls to be held early next year.

Indicating this, while talking to mediapersons here, SAD president Parkash Singh Badal said the ruling Congress would have to face a humiliating defeat at the hands of the Akali-BJP combine in the elections.

Earlier, addressing a largely attended public rally on home turf of the chief minister, Mr Badal said the ruling Congress had failed on all fronts and that he people of the state were in severe social and economic crises due to its anti-people policies both at the Centre and in the state.

He was accompanies by Mr Kohli and other SAD leaders on the stage, who lambasted the Congress in their respectiuve speeches.
