Postal cover on Pattabhiraman released

Chennai, Nov 11 (UNI) The postal department released a special postal cover in honour of multifaceted personality C R Pattabhiraman here today.

The cover was released by Post Master General (Mail and Marketing), Chenani Ms Karuna Pillai and was received by former State Additional Advocate General A L Somaiyaji at a function organised by the C P Ramaswami Aiyar Foundation.

Mr Pattabhiraman began his career as a Barrister-at-Law in 1932 and had served as a Senior Advocate of the Supreme Court.

As a Member of Parliament between 1957 and 1967, he had also served as Deputy Minister for Labour employment and planning and deputy Minsiter for Information and Broadcasting and Minister for Law and Company Affairs.

After his retirement from active politics, he became Chairman of Cochin Refineries.

An active sportsman, he was also a founder and Vice-President of BCCI and Founder of Madras Cricket Association. He played cricket for Madras Presidency and was a golf champion in Madras and Ootacamund.
