Dry crops will be cultivated in 3.56 lakh hectares : Reddy

Hyderabad, Nov 11 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Agriculture Minister N Raghuveera Reddy today said the farmers have agreed to cultivate dry crops in 3.56 lakh hectares during this Rabi season at the 'Ryotu Chaitanya Yatras' organised recently in the state.

In a press release here, Mr Reddy said the farmers have responded positively to the suggestions made by the officials to cultivate dry crops in the lands which fall under borewell and well irrigation.

Stating that the water pits would be constructed in agricultural lands where the farmers cultivate dry crops under National Rural Employment Gurantee programme (NREGP), the Minister said 4,132 farmers have already came forward to dig water pits in their lands.

He said the government would supply seeds with 50 per cent subsidy to the dry crop cultivators during this Rabi season.
