Talking to newspersons here, party state president N Indrasena Reddy said the BJP central leadership had approved the candidature of Murali.
The byelection was necessited following the death of TDP MP K Paidithalli Naidu. While TDP had announced the candidature of his son Appala Naidu, Congress was is to announce its candidate.
By election to Karimnagar and Bobbili Lok Sabha constituencies will be held on December 4.
The bypoll to Karimnagar seat was caused following the resignation of Telangana Rashtra Samiti chief and former Union Minister K Chandrasekhara Rao, who along with his colleague A Narendra quit the Union Cabinet, protesting the delay in the announcement of the formation of Telangana state by the UPA government.
Mr Chandrasekhara Rao also resigned his Lok Sabha seat and termed the ensuing byelection as a referendum on Telangana.
While Congress is fielding MLA T Jeevan Reddy, TDP announced the candidature of L Ramana, who represented the constituency earlier.
The BJP has fielded former Union Minister Ch Vidyasagar Rao, who also represented the constituency during the NDA rule.
