Zydus Pharma gets tentative USFDA nod for Simvastatin Tabs

New Delhi, Nov 7 (UNI) Cadila Healthcare Ltd today said it has received tentative approval from the USFDA to market Simvastatin Tablets in the US market.

The company will market the drug through its US subsidiary Zydus Pharmaceuticals (USA) Inc, it said in a statement.

The drug, a lipid lowering agent, falls in the cardiovascular segment and will be available in 5 mg, 10 mg, 20 mg, 40 mg and 80mg.

The branded sales of Simvastatin Tablets in the US market are estimated at 4.6 billion dollars, as per IMS on March 2006.

This marks the 18th ANDA approval for the group since the commencement of filing process in FY 2003-04. So far, the group has filed 41 ANDAs and 45 DMFs.

Mizoram NGOs want Hindi sop banned

Aizawl, Nov 7 (UNI) The Hindi serial ''Kasauti Zindagi Kya'' which endeared itself in the Mizo community since last year, has once again come into controversy after several community-based NGOs have decided to put pressure on cable TV operators to stop showing the serial. Reports from Champhai district today said a recent meeting of NGOs has decided to request the cable TV operators to stop screening the Hindi serial as it allegedly creating ''problems.....

Minister sentenced in bounce case

Chhindwara, MP, Nov 7: A local court has sentenced former State Minister Tejilal Saryam to one year's rigorous imprisonment in a cheque bounce case and fined him Rs two lakh. The former minister had procured items for decoration for characters of 'Ramlila mandlis' from one Sharad Topiwala in 2003.A cheque given by the accused for Rs 1.80 lakh, however, was dishonoured by the SBI bank.
