Youth mesmerises women and decamps with gold bangles

Surat, Nov 7 (UNI) A youth allegedly mesmerised two women at Dikshit Mohollah in Valsad and decamped with gold bangles worth Rs 76,400.

One Ms Swathiben Desai and her aunt Mrs Sarayuben Desai were sitting and talking to each other in front of their house when a young man entered the house and said he wanted to meet Dr Dasarathbhai Desai, the husband of the victim. Ms Sarayuben Desai told the youth that her husband is not in the house, and got into a conversation with him.

During the course of the conversation the women were allegedly gradually mesmerised and relieved of their gold bangles, police said yesterday.

Valsad town police have initiated a probe, police added.

Mercury soars to 33 degrees C in Delhi

New Delhi, Nov 7 (UNI) Delhi experienced a warm day today with mercury rising to 33 degrees Celsius in the absence of the Easterly winds. The meteorological department said the maximum was three degrees above normal. The minimum was recorded at 15.8 degrees Celsius, again three degrees above normal. The weatherman has forecast shallow fog in the morning and mainly clear sky over the next 24 hours in the capital. The minimum is expected to rise.....

Novelist Padmanabhan gets 'Thapasya' puraskaram

Kozhikode, Nov 7 (UNI) Malayalam Novelist T Padmanabhan has been selected for 'Thapasya Sanjan Puraskaram' for his outstanding contrbution to literature. The award carrying a purse of Rs 50,000, plaque and citation, instituted by Thapasya Art and Literary Forum, would be presented to him at a function at Kochi on December 2, Forum Working President P Balakrishan said in a release here today. Yoga education not mandatory in K'taka schools

Hubli, Nov 7 (UNI) The Karnataka Government today clarified that it has not made yoga education compulsory in primary and secondary schools. In an official release here, State Primary and Secondary Education Minister Basavaraj S Horatti warned of stringent action against those institutions issuing 'Yoga certificates' to teacher candidates taking money from them, stating that it was compulsory.
