Young woman and her child found dead

Akola, Nov 7 (UNI) A young married woman and her two and a half year old kid were found dead in her house in Harihar peth locality, here today.

Police said, the deceased has been identified as - Tilottama alias Madhuri Gaikwad (21) and her son Pavan.

Madhuri set herself ablaze around 1600 hrs, locking the door of the room from inside, police said adding the charred body of the son was also found. Police suspect that she might have killed her son.

The deceased's husband Sanjay and the mother-in-law Nirmala has been taken into custody for interrogation.

A quarrel in the family might have forced the woman commit suicide after killing her son, police added.

35-year old pilgrim drowned

Tirumala, Nov 7 (UNI) A 35-year-old person who had come to offer worship to Lord at Venkateswara Temple here was drowned in the temple tank today. Police said the pilgrim was taking a bath when the mishap occurred. The body was recovered from the tank and sent to Government Ruia Hospital at Tirupati for post-mortem. Srinagar, Nov 7 (UNI) A mild earthquake of 3.4 magnitude was experienced in border areas of north Kashmir today. Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) office here said the mild temblor occurred at 0906 hrs. It epicentred 34.5 degree North latitude and 74.2 degree East longitude in the border region of Jammu and Kashmir. However, there were no reports of any loss of life or damage to property.
