Railways come heavily on ticketless travel

Mumbai, Nov 7: In its endeavour to provide better service to bonafide rail users and plug the revenue loss, Western Railway (WR) recovered over Rs 195 lakh from total 96,842 ticketless travellers on the trains in September.

The WR sources said the amount was recovered as a part of drive against the ticketless travel and unbooked luggage carried by commuters.

Similarly, the railways also detected 112 cases of illegal transfer of reserved tickets and an amount of Rs 90,933 was realised. About 137 checks were conducted against touts, 478 persons were apprehended and prosecuted under the Railway Act, in which Rs 42,880 was recovered from them.

Asom Governor for fighting terrorism professionally

Guwhati, Nov 07 (UNI) Asom Governor Lt.Gen (Retd) Ajoy Singh today stressed the need of fighting terrorism through professionally directed means with dedication and seriousness. Trade Bandh: Vandalism in Delhi, 1,500 detained

New Delhi, Nov 7: Incidents of vandalism in parts of East Delhi marked the 'bandh' called by Traders in the national capital today against the Supreme Court order to resume sealing of commercial establishments in residential areas of the city.Protesting traders damaged public property and blocked traffic in various areas of East Delhi, especially the arterial Vikas Marg.Police used tear gas, banton-charged and detained about 1,500 unruly individuals.
