Usha International declares interim divident of 125%

New Delhi, Nov 7 (UNI) The board of directors of Usha International Ltd, a Siddarth Shriram Group company, today announced an interim dividend of 125 per cent.

The company recorded an increase of 94 per cent in its net profits over the corresponding period last year. It registered a turnover of Rs 312.50 crore in the first half of the year as against Rs 255.5 crore for the same period last year.

The diverse products marketed by the company include fans, sewing machines, home applinaces, engines and pumpsets, electrical motors and pumps, water coolers, air conditioners, generators, inverters and auto components.

Ashok Leyland reports 69.5 pc sales hike

Chennai, Nov 07: Hinduja Group Flagship Ashok Leyland has reported 69.5 per cent hike in sales for October 2006.Domestic sales were up 73 per cent, to 6,798 vehicles (3,921 vehicles in October 2005) exports up 27 per cent, at 457 vehicles during the month, a company release here said. The company had sold 7,255 vehicles during this month, compared to 4,281 vehicles sold in October last year. The cumulative sales were up 36 per cent and cumulative.....

Bengal's sponge iron industry in crisis

Kolkata, Nov 07 (UNI) Increase in raw material prices has led to crisis in the sponge iron industry in West Bengal. The operational loss of the sponge iron industry has reached Rs 1200-1400 per ton owing to the higher input costs, West Bengal Sponge Iron Manufacturers Association president Gouri Shankar Jain said. The state produces two million ton of sponge iron from 44 units which in turn produces 1.8 million ton of steel, Mr Jain.....

Japanese Encephalitis toll mounts to 320

Gorakhpur, Nov 7 (UNI) The deadly vector-borne Japanese Encephalitis (JE) continued to kill unabated in eastern Uttar Pradesh with the toll mounting to 320, following six more deaths in the last 24 hrs. Joint director health Dr Umakant Prasad said 1,683 JE patients had been admitted at the Baba Raghav Das Medical College here. Almost 80 patients including 18 fresh cases are still under treatment. The JE patients belong to Gorakhpur, Maharajganj, Siddharthnagar, Deoria, Kushinagar,.....
