Two killed in unseasonal rains, may continue for two days

Ahmedabad, Nov 7 (UNI) Two people were killed when lightning struck them in Hansod village of Ankleshwar after unseasonal rains followed by hailstorm lashed several parts of Gujarat today.

The victims were working in their fields when they were struck by lightning. Unseasonal rains were also reported in Anand district and Ankleshwar town besides Tarapur, Anklav, Khambhat and Borsad.

Agriculture experts in Anand say that crops like chilli, paddy and tobacco which were awaiting harvest, be damaged due to the unseasonal rains.

Meanwhile, the Director incharge of Meteorology department J M Motwal told UNI that the unseasonal rains today in some parts of Gujarat were due to ''western disturbances.'' The precipitation was coming from the westerly Caspian Sea and its effect could be seen from Jammu and Kashmir to Mumbai and parts of Gujarat. This could last for two or three days, he added.

Reliance energy, partners bag 4 of 10 blocks under CBM-111

Govt approves purchase of 102 drugs from CPSUs for hospitals

New Delhi, Nov 7 (UNI) The Government has approved the proposal with regard to preferential purchase of 102 drugs/pharmaceuticals exclusively from Pharma CPSUs and their subsidiaries by departments, hospitals and PSUs of the Central Government, to help in reviving these units and also in making drugs available at reasonable rates to the Government hospitals. Sealing to resume in Delhi from November 8

New Delhi, Nov 7: The Sealing drive against commercial establishments in residential areas of the national capital will resume tomorrow.Supreme Court-appointed Monitoring Committee Member K J Rao said this evening that the sealing drive would start tomorrow, without giving any further detail.However, it was understood that the drive would re-start first against big shops in South Delhi colonies and those who had filed affidavits promising to close such unauthorised units.Earlier today, the three-member committee had.....
