Two doctors arrested in Malegaon blast case

Mumbai, Nov 7: Two doctors were arrested in connection with the Malegaon blasts case last night by the Anti-Terrorist Squad(ATS) of the city police.

Dr Salman Farsi, a Unani doctor, was arrested from Govandi while doctor Farooq Rauf was arrested from Malegaon.

Earlier, the ATS had arrested three persons in connection with the blast case and booked them under the stringent Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA).

All of them are at present in the custody of ATS till November 16.

On September 8, three blasts had occurred in and around a mosque at Malegaon in Nasik district which had left 25 dead besides injuring over 240 others.

New Delhi, Nov 7: With the clock ticking for the presentation of Budget 2007-08, Finance Minister P Chidambaram today favoured further moderation in tax rates and disapproved of tax concessions. ''There is scope for further moderation, however, this will depend upon greater tax compliance.
