Torry Harris to set up R

Bangalore, Nov 7 (UNI) Torry Harris Business Solutions, a leading global services and solutions provider for mission critical Distributed Enterprises Computing, will set up a dedicated R and D cell in the city for Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) implementation solutions.

Company Chief Operating Officer Ashwin Krishna told newspersons here today that the proposed R and D cell would cater to the next generation SOA needs of global clients.

He said the new specialised cell, to be headed by the company CTO, would consist of experts in the areas of SOA and Open Source Software (OSS). Comprising 20 per cent of the company's total workforce, it was aimed at offering cost-effective alternatives and solutions to its clients by combining the strengthes of SOA and OSS.

Mr Krishna informed that the R and D team conducted focused training programmes and hands-on workshops to disseminate information on SOA to personnel across the company, thereby building a large resource pool that could be instantly deployed on SOA projects. In an advisory capacity, the company would recommend the best option of research tools available to plot the course of the client's SOA drive, he added.

He said the company, with a passion to embrace niche and newer technologies, was one of the leading medium-sized enterprises with primary focus on secific domains like telecom, Government, banking, insurance and finance, pharma and healthcare, utilities, automotive and travel, and manufacturing.

Rowdy murdered near Chennai Central

Chennai, Nov 07 (UNI) An notorious rowdy wanted in several cases was brutally murdered by a gang in front of the busy Chennai Central Railway station here today. Dilli Babu, who came out on bail three days ago was walking along the roadside when a five-member gang fatally attacked him with leathal weapons and fled from the scene. Constable guns down wife

Gulbarga, Nov 7 (UNI) A police constable of District Armed Reserve (DAR) today shot dead his wife with his service rifle, suspecting her fidelity. Police said that constable Siddharamappa picked up a quarrel with his wife, Saibavva (40) this morning and in a fit of rage, he fired two rounds at her from his service rifle. London and Mumbai pledge to unitedly fight terror

Mumbai, Nov 7: With a firm resolve to unitedly fight terror, British Foreign Minister Margaret Beckett called on Maharashtra Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh and Mumbai Police Commissioner A N Roy at Mantralaya here today.
