TOKYO, Nov 7 (Reuters) Japan's Nikkei average finished Tuesday morning up 0.72 percent after a rally on Wall Street boosted exporters such as Honda Motor Co. Ltd., while Takeda Pharmaceutical Co. gained after raising its full-year outlook.
But rises were limited as investors looked ahead to the outcome of midterm elections in the United States later in the day, as well as a series of economic data in the coming days.
The Nikkei finished the morning up 117.18 points at 16,481.94, extending gains from a rise of 0.09 percent in the previous session.
The broader TOPIX index advanced 0.52 percent to 1,625.12.
