TN traders body convey support to Delhi traders

Chennai, Nov 7: Members of the Tamil Nadu Traders Federation (TNTF) staged a slogan-shouting demonstration here today in support of the ongoing agitation by Delhi traders against the Supreme Court order to resume sealing of commercial establishments in residential areas of the national capital.

Speaking on the occasion, TNTF President Mr T Vellaiyan urged the Centre to enact special legislation and protect the interests of about five lakh traders. He also appealed to the Supreme Court to review its verdict.

Association General Secretary K Mohan said to extend solidarity and support to the agitating Delhi traders, the federation would organise similar protests all over Tamil Nadu, shortly.

New Delhi, Nov 7: Employees' Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) today deferred to next month revision of EPF interest rate that Left trade unions say should be restored to its original 9.5 per cent from the present 8.5 per cent.After a nearly four-hour meeting, chaired by new Minister of State for Labour (Independent Charge), Oscar Fernandes, it was decided to hold the next meeting before December 10.The sub-committee formed earlier under the chairmanship of Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh vice-president.....

OIA ministry to institute awards for Overseas indian workers

New Delhi, Nov 7 (UNI) A few overseas Indian workers will be honoured at the fifth "Pravasi Bharatiya Divas" in the capital city during January 7-9 next year. In the previous four editions, only outstanding and eminent NRIs were honoured in recognition of their contribution in different fields.
