SBI driver decamps with Rs 19 lakh

Hoshangabad, MP, Nov 7 (UNI) A State Bank of India driver duped the bank's employees and decamped with Rs 19 lakh near this district headquarters today, the police said.

The bank's Baktara branch Senior Assistant Kamal Singh Chouhan and guard Ravishankar Mansauria were conveying the amount in a Maruti Omni to their branch from the branch here.

On National Highway 69, driver Shravan Kumar halted the vehicle feigning some fault and asked the duo to push the van. Soon after Chouhan and Mansauria alighted, Kumar sped off. Mansauria's 12-bore gun was in the vehicle.

Unseasonal rains claim 4 lives in Gujarat

Bhavnagar, Gujarat, Nov 7 (UNI) Four persons were killed in different parts of Gujarat after being struck by lightning during the last 24 hours. According to reports reaching here, a woman farm labourer, Vasantben Ravjibhai Koli (40) was killed while Aminaben Yunushbhai Ghanchi (30) was seriously injured after being struck by lightning at Mota Khutvada village in Mahuva taluka of Bhavnagar district. A 25-year-old youth, Nareshbhai Valjibhai Ladumore, was also killed after being struck.....

Violence mars Delhi 'bandh', 120 arrested; trade loss of Rs 500 cr

New Delhi, Nov 7 (UNI) Violence marred 24-hour Delhi 'bandh' today saw total shutdown of shops even as traders clashed with police, damaged government property and blocked traffic to vent their anger and frustation over the sealing drive, despite the presence of 25 'extra' companies of security personnel to maintain law and order. Once again, most incidents of violence centred around East Delhi areas where about half a dozen buses were damaged, lumpen elements.....
