Police resort to lathicharge against onion growers

Hubli, Nov 7 (UNI) Police resorted to mild lathicharge to disperse an unruly mob of onion growers at Lakshmeshwar in Gadag district of Karnataka, today.

The trouble started when some onion growers demanded that there should not be grading of onion while purchasing by the Government purchase centre and staged a rasta roko. The growers put forth the demand following arrival of more quantity of onion in the last few days. But, when officials refused their demand, the ryots started shouting slogans. Police resorted to mild lathicharge to disperse them.

Court rejects Natrajan's bail application

Ranchi, Nov 7 (UNI) The bail application of suspended Jharkhand Inspector General of Police P S Natarajan, accused of exploiting a tribal woman, was today rejected by the court of Additional Judicial Commissioner.
