Police constable killed in NKashmir

Baramulla, Nov 7: Militants shot dead a police constable and wounded a labourer in north Kashmir overnight, official sources said today.

They said militants entered the house of police constable Abdul Rashid Mir at Chak-e-Surmarg, Handwara in the frontier district of Kupwara late last night and shot him.

Mir, posted at Chugal Handwara, was on leave.

Militants shot at and wounded critically labourer Mohammad Shafi Choppan at Sopore in this district last night.

Choppan was hospitalised, the sources said.

New Delhi, Nov 7: The Supreme Court has decided to monitor the progress of the sealing process in Delhi involving 41,000 odd commercial establishment operating from residential areas in violation of the city's master plan.The Bench, comprising Chief Justice Y K Sabharwal and Justice C K Thakkar, yesterday directed the Monitoring Committee to submit weekly reports in the court giving details of the progress made on the sealing front.The court directed the Monitoring Committee to file weekly.....

Rupee opens firm at 44.86/87 per USD

Mumbai, Nov 7: The rupee today opened firm by three paise and was quoted at Rs 44.86/87 per US dollar as compared to its previous close of Rs 44.89 per USD, a money market trader said.Later, the domestic currency rose to Rs 44.80/81 per USD, and is now trading high at Rs 44.81/82 per USD due to fresh dollar demand by banks, forex dealers said.UNI.....

Mumbai, Nov 7: Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) Sensex soared as many as 113.80 points to reach 13,300.69 points in the opening trade on the firm global advice, brokers said here this morning.A steady-to-firm trend in most Indian ADRs yesterday aided the early upmove.
