Patel Engg bags Rs 360cr order from NTPC

New Delhi, Nov 7 (UNI) Patel Engineering Ltd has received a Rs 360 crore order from National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) for construction of Loharinag Pala Hydro Electric Power Project, Penstock and Power House.

The project, situated on river Bhagirathi in Uttarkashi district of Uttaranchal, is slated to be completed in the next 45 months.

''Hydro power has always been the prime focus of the company and it will capitalise on its vast experience and expertise in this sector,'' company Director Sonal Patel said.

Loharinag Pala Hydro Electric Project (4 x 150 MW) will generate 1,939 MU on 90 per cent dependability. The project comprises of surge shaft of 13.5 dia, inclined pressure shaft, underground power house, underground transformer hall, tail race tunnel and switchyard.

The company recently acquired a controlling stake in Michigan Engineers Pvt Ltd (MEPL), a Mumbai-based urban infrastructure company, for an undisclosed sum.

Also, the company was awarded the Loharinag Palo Hydro Electric Power Project (4 x 150 MW) Head Race Tunnel Package worth Rs 318 crore.

Patel Engineering Ltd has carved a reputation as one of India's premier civil engineering construction companies. With over 200 projects around the world to its credit. Indian stakeholders concerned over Infosys' ADR issue

Engineering student commits suicide

Chennai, Nov 7: A-23 year old first year post-graduate engineering student of the Anna University allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself at his residence in suburban Pazhavanthangal early today.Police said the student, N Durkesh, hailing from Andhra Pradesh, was living with three other co-students. He was found hanging from the ceiling fan.Acting on the information, police rushed to the spot and removed the body for post-martem. An investigation was underway, police added.UNI.....

Indefinite curfew imposed in Kamptee

Nagpur, Nov 7 (UNI) Indefinite curfew was imposed in Kamptee, about 15 km from here, early this morning after an irate mob ransacked the police station and torched at least two police vehicles and damaged several others late last night. Earlier, police fired in the air to disperse the angry mob which resorted to violence, protesting against the massacre of four members of a dalit family by the Khairlanji villagers in Bhandara district recently.
