ONGC into social activities in Tripura

Agartala, Nov 07 (UNI) The ONGC, Tripura asset, one of the 'Nav Ratnas'' in India, is involved in many social activities in this North-Eastern hilly state.

The ONGC, Tripura Asset, has taken up social activities, including holding of free medical camp with the state's health department in the operational areas of the state besides arrangement for drinking water.

The PSU recently organised a free medical camp at Joynagar, under Belonia sub-division of Tripura's South District that was affected with mosquito borne disease and earlier distributed mosquito nets among the poor villagers free of costs, a press release issued by the ONGC said here today.

The ONGC's objective was to reach local people with a humane hand particularly near its operational sites in remote areas. In the recent medical camp with the health department at Joynagar, about 3000 rural people from 28 villages took benefit of this service.

Mr K K Singhal, Deputy General Managewr, Support Manager, of the Tripura asset along with local MLA Basudev Majumder formally inaugurated the camp. Mr Singhal elaborated about the polcies of ONGC for working closely with the people for the benefit of the society, the release added.

HC restrains UP Board from finalising exam centre

Allahabad, Nov 7 (UNI) Allahabad High Court today directed Uttar Pradesh Madhyamik Shiksha Parishad not to finalise the examination centres under the self-examination centre scheme for high school and intermediate examination 2007. The order was passed by Justice S N Srivastava hearing a writ petition filed by committee of management, Mohan Singh Inter College, Mathura. The college moved the court challenging an order of the Parishad, by which the college was delisted from self.....

Police rounds up 12 persons for collecting money illegally

Kochi, Nov 7 (UNI) Police today rounded up 12 people for possessing illegal receipts for collecting money unauthorisedly from trucks and trailers at the Port here. This follows the government's decision at a meeting yesterday, headed by State Industries Minister Elamaram Kareem and Labour Minister P K Gurudasan to stop all illegal collection of money from today. Police said a strong police force, with the help of CISF was deployed to monitor the port.....

HC tells govt to prepare policy note on trafficking

Chennai, Nov 7(UNI) Madras High Court today directed the Tamil Nadu government to prepare a perspective policy note on immoral trafficking of women and children in consultation with a state-level coordination committee. Passing interim orders, a Division Bench comprising Chief Justice A P Shah and Mr Justice K Chandru gave the direction while posting futher hearing of the case to February 26, 2007.
