NTPC to introduce new technology to generate 75,000 MW by 2017

New Delhi, Nov 7 (UNI) Aiming to become a 75,000 MW company by the year 2017, NTPC Ltd will introduce new technologies for a quantum leap in capacity addition and follow a multi-pronged growth strategy.

NTPC CMD T Sankaralingam said the company is entering into new areas of growth by taking up challenging projects in the hydro sector, coal mining, oil exploration and also nuclear generation in the Eleventh Plan.

He was addressing the employees on the 31st raising day of the company today.

NTPC is the largest power generating company in the country with 14 Coal, seven gas-based and four joint venture projects with a total installed capacity of 26,404 MW.

The company today also signed a Memorandum of Association (MoU) with Society for Integrated Circuit Technology and Applied Research for identifying global technology know how provider(s) and technology transfer for manufacturing of white LED lamps.

New Delhi, Nov 7 (UNI) Mr Jasbir Singh Bajaj, Joint Resident Commissioner at the Tamil Nadu house here, has been posted as Officer on Special duty to Tamil Nadu governor Surjit Singh Barnala. 6600 people from K'taka to undertake Haj pilgrimage

Mysore, Nov 7 (UNI) Karnataka Wakf and Haj Minister Zameer Ahmed Khan today said 6,600 people have been selected from the State for Haj pilgrimage out of the 11,000 applications received this year, with priority given to first timers. Inaugurating the day-long training and immunisation programme for Haj pilgrims of Mysore, Mandya and Chamarajanagara here, he said 778 pilgrims from the three districts would be leaving for Mecca from Bangalore on November 22,.....

TN traders body convey support to Delhi traders

Chennai, Nov 7: Members of the Tamil Nadu Traders Federation (TNTF) staged a slogan-shouting demonstration here today in support of the ongoing agitation by Delhi traders against the Supreme Court order to resume sealing of commercial establishments in residential areas of the national capital.Speaking on the occasion, TNTF President Mr T Vellaiyan urged the Centre to enact special legislation and protect the interests of about five lakh traders. He also appealed to the Supreme Court to review its verdict......
