Need to adopt best practices in industries: LG

New Delhi, Nov 7 (UNI) Delhi Lt Governor B L Joshi today said India with its enormous human capital in engineering and technology is bound to emerge as a major hub for development of innovative products and services.

''However, for this to happen we need to adopt the best practices followed by world-class organisations around the world in our industries,'' he said on the occasion of 122nd Founder's Day of the JK organisation here.

''We had succeeded in making a better projection of our strengths such as outsourcing, information technology, health, tourism, and human resources,'' the Lt Governor said.

''A comprehensive and integrated plan for aggressively marketing India, especially in international arena, is required to be put in place very quickly and very effectively,'' he added.

Mr Joshi said, countries were concerned with the need for good corporate governance and sound ethics in business today. ''It was important that we harness latest technology, be innovative and be customer oriented,'' he added.

Also present on the occasion were J K Organisation President Hari Shankar Singhania, Director Raghupati Singhania and J K Lakshmi Cement Ltd Director S Chouksey.

Gujarat lacks infrastructure to handle IPR issue: IPPA

Ahmedabad, Nov 7 (UNI) Gujarat may be the hub of industrial and financial activity, but it lacks good infrastructure to handle Intellectual Property Rights and trademark issues. Stating this, Mr Rashikant Trivedi, Hon Secretary of Intellectual Property Practitioners Association (IPPA) said, ''Though there is an office to handle IPR issues here, apart from Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai, it lacks good infrastructure.'' 6600 people from K'taka to undertake Haj pilgrimage

Mysore, Nov 7 (UNI) Karnataka Wakf and Haj Minister Zameer Ahmed Khan today said 6,600 people have been selected from the State for Haj pilgrimage out of the 11,000 applications received this year, with priority given to first timers. Inaugurating the day-long training and immunisation programme for Haj pilgrims of Mysore, Mandya and Chamarajanagara here, he said 778 pilgrims from the three districts would be leaving for Mecca from Bangalore on November 22,.....
