Mumbaikar murders wife and daughter before committing suicide

Dubai, Nov 7 (UNI) A young executive from Mumbai, who murdered his wife and daughter before committing suicide, took the drastic step because his wife had an affair with another man, police said.

Sharjah police, who took possession of the three letters left by Kumar Acharya Vasudevan, 33, said he strangled his 32-year old wife and childhood sweetheart Lynette Almeida with a rope and smothered his two-year old daughter with a pillow as they slept.

He jumped out of the 10th floor flat after leaving letters to the police, his mother and his brother living in the neighbourhood.

Kumar wrote that he loved his wife and when he came to know that she loved someone else he could not bear it and decided to kill her and himself so that he would be able to love her after death.

The three bodies would be flown to India today for funeral in Mumbai, sources said.

Police said this was the second such case in Sharjah. Last year an Indian killed his three children and his wife by slitting their throats before killing himself.
