Mizoram to setup multi-crore culture exhibition centre

Aizawl, Nov 7 (UNI) The Mizoram industries department has proposed to construct a multi-crore permanent culture exhibition centre here.

''We have already sent our proposals to the Ministry of Urban Development to set up a new permanent exhibition centre in the state,'' director of Industries Mr Yogaraja said.

The approval is expected soon, he added.

The proposed project would cost between Rs 15 to 20 crore and areas had been identified, he said adding a detailed feasibility study and a project report was being prepared by National Buildings Construction Corporation Limited (NBCC).

The new centre would give better facilites to the artisans coming from other states for their lodging, Mr Yogaraja said.

Mr Yogaraja also pointed out that the state artisans would be encouraged by helping them to improve their techniques in their work so that the products will be more competitive in the international markets.

Andaman gears up for the safety of visiting tourists

Interlinkages between ODS, global warming agents to be studied

New Delhi, Nov 7: The 18th meeting of Parties to the Montreal Protocol on Ozone Depleting Substances (ODS), which concluded here last week, has decided to step up efforts to stop the thinning process of the protective gas layer over the earth and arrest global warming.The parties decided that assessment experts should study the interlinkages between ozone depletion and climate change, which has great significance for developing countries, because they are at present asked to substitute ODS with substances.....

Traders observe one-day strike

New Delhi, Nov 7 (UNI) Traders in the national capital today observed a 'bandh' against the Supreme Court order to resume sealing of commercial establishments in residential areas of the city. Heavy 'bandobast' was made by the city police, which was also reinforced by central police forces, in view of the strike. All government-run schools were closed and so were public schools. While traders were apprehensive about the sealing drive, the common man was worried.....
