Mizoram to set up Rs 15-20 cr exhibition centre

Aizawl, Nov 7 (UNI) The Mizoram industries department has proposed to construct a permanent culture exhibition centre worth Rs 15 to 20 crore here.

''We have already sent our proposals to the Ministry of Urban Development to set up a permanent exhibition centre in the state and the approval is expected soon,'' Director of Industries Yogaraja said.

The areas for the proposed project had been identified, he said adding that a detailed feasibility study and a project report was being prepared by National Buildings Construction Corporation Ltd (NBCC).

The new centre would give better facilites to artisans coming from other states for their lodging, Mr Yogaraja said.

He also pointed out that the state artisans would be encouraged by helping them to improve their techniques in their work so that the products will be more competitive in the international markets.

HUM ultra killed in encounter

Jammu Nov 7: A Harkat-ul-Mujahideen (HUM) militant and a former SPO was today gunned down by the troops at Budhi, Gandoh area of hilly Doda district, official sources said.Doda senior Superintendent of Police Manohar Singh said HUM militant Shabir Ahmad, alias Abu Abrar, resident of Banitanta in Gandoh was killed by the troops of 26 Rashtriya Rifles (RR) and Special Task Force (STF). 2 children dead in a bus accident in Muzaffarnagar

Lucknow, Nov 7: Two children were killed and 22 others injured when the school bus ferrying them fell from the Bawandara bridge in Muzaffarnagar city district this morning.According to the police, the bus of S N Public School lost control and fell from the bridge after breaking the divider. It was carrying 28 children to the school.Local villagers rescued 22 children. All the students were rushed to the hospital for mekdical aid as they sustained injuries......

Police constable killed in NKashmir

Baramulla, Nov 7: Militants shot dead a police constable and wounded a labourer in north Kashmir overnight, official sources said today.They said militants entered the house of police constable Abdul Rashid Mir at Chak-e-Surmarg, Handwara in the frontier district of Kupwara late last night and shot him.Mir, posted at Chugal Handwara, was on leave.Militants shot at and wounded critically labourer Mohammad Shafi Choppan at Sopore in this district last night.Choppan was hospitalised, the sources.....
