Meet on Geophysics tomorrow

Hyderabad, Nov 7 (UNI) About 1,000 professionals engaged in exploration for earth resources from all over India and abroad will assemble for the Third International Seminar and Exhibition on Exploration Geophysics beginning here tomorrow.

The three-day meet is being organised by the Association of Exploration Geophysicists (AEG). The seminar is sponsored by Oil and Natural Gas Commission Ltd and supported by many organisations engaged in geoscientific activities in India.

The seminar is of immense value to professional geoscientists, industrial planners, investors, engineering geologists and research scholars of Geosciences, Prof Y Sreedhar Murthy, Secretary of AEG, told the media here today.

AEG Vice President Ravi Bastia said the special theme of the seminar is ''Integration: Road to success for earth resources.'' The seminar and exhibition will be formally inaugurated by ONGC CMD R S Sharma. Reliance Industries CMD Mukesh Ambani will deliver the inaugural address.

Atomic Energy Commission Chairman Anil Kakodkar will release AEG Publications.

An exhibition is also being organised on the state-of-the-art practices in Geosciences.

Over 30 companies and national institutions engaged in Geoscientific activities have confirmed their participation.

Over 100 research papers will be presented at the four plenary sessions and 15 oral and poster sessions.

Australia to probe into rude behaviour by Ponting

Sydney, Nov 7 (UNI) After Ricky Ponting and his men did some more harm to the side's already rude and arrogant image in the Champions Trophy prize distribution ceremony, Cricket Australia has decided to probe into the matter. Hardly graceful even in their triumph, Ponting's teammates -- especially the captain himself and his pal Damien Martyn -- pushed BCCI President and Union Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar in the presentation dais after they had won.....

BJP joins chorus to condemn Aussie players behaviour against Pawar

Mumbai, Nov 7 (UNI) Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) today joined the chorus to criticise the behaviour of Australian captain Ricky Ponting and Damien Martyn towards the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) Chief Sharad Pawar during the prize distribution ceremony of the Champions Trophy on Sunday. The two Australian players, in their eagerness to pose for camera, were seen tapping Mr Pawar on the shoulder as a gesture to leave the stage.....

Bangladesh election chief gets vote of confidence
