IUML to take out march against death sentence to Saddam

Malappuram, Nov 7 (UNI) Joining the mounting global protest against the award of gallows to Iraqi strongman Saddam Hussein, the Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) in Kerala today said it would conduct solidarity marches in all the 140 assembly constituencies in the state on November 10 demanding annulment of the execution.

Talking to mediapersons after the office bearers meeting of the IUML here, General Secretary E Ahamed said large number of party cadre were expected to participate in the march.

The meeting also decided to entrust treasurer P K Kunhalikutty Secretaries M K Muneer, E T Muhammed Basheer, T A Ahamed Kabeer and P H Abdul Salam with duties of the General Secretary during Mr Ahamed's absence in the sate, he added.

Mr Ahamed said this was necessiated in the wake of his prolonged absence from the state, while looking after the office of the Minister of State for External Affairs.

The meeting was presided over by party supremo Panakkad Sayed Mohammedali Shihab Ali Thangal.

Germans sweep individual titles in World Tennikoit tourney

Chennai, Nov 7 (UNI) Germans ruled the roost bagging the men's and women's singles titles in the individual events in the Velammal International School first World Tennikoit Championship here today. Dominic Schubardt of Germany defeated compatriot Timo Hufnagel 42-36 to annexe the men's title, while Sabrina Westphal (Germany) thrashed Nicole Schellert, also of Germany, 46-27 for the Women's title. Yuvraj's injury to be reassessed on November 10: BCCI
