In-laws burn bride's legs, label her witch

Kota, Nov 7 (UNI) In a dowry related incident, a newly married woman's in-laws labelled her a witch, burnt her legs and sprayed the wounded area with chilli powder.

According to police, Shahista, 20, daughter of Mohammand Iqbal and a native of Kaithoon, was married to Yusuf six months back.

Shahista's family members allege that she was tormented by her in-laws for more dowry.

Shahista's in-laws allegedly called a tantrik on Sunday to rid her of any ill effects. The tantrik tortured her physically, burnt her legs and sprayed them with chilli powder.

On getting this information, Shahista's father Mohammad Iqbal lodged a written complaint at the Kaithoon police station. Police station incharge Surendra Bhati said the police investigated the matter and filed a case against Shahista's in-laws and the tantrik.

They have also arrested four people in this connection.
