HUM ultra killed in encounter

Jammu Nov 7: A Harkat-ul-Mujahideen (HUM) militant and a former SPO was today gunned down by the troops at Budhi, Gandoh area of hilly Doda district, official sources said.

Doda senior Superintendent of Police Manohar Singh said HUM militant Shabir Ahmad, alias Abu Abrar, resident of Banitanta in Gandoh was killed by the troops of 26 Rashtriya Rifles (RR) and Special Task Force (STF).

The militant was a Special Police Officer (SPO). He had taken one AK-Rifle, three magazines, and a wireless set from Thathri Police Station on April 20, 2006 and joined the militant outfit, the SSP informed.

Akamba alleges BRTF of selling road materials to public

Supreme Court to monitor the sealing in Delhi

New Delhi, Nov 7: The Supreme Court has decided to monitor the progress of the sealing process in Delhi involving 41,000 odd commercial establishment operating from residential areas in violation of the city's master plan.The Bench, comprising Chief Justice Y K Sabharwal and Justice C K Thakkar, yesterday directed the Monitoring Committee to submit weekly reports in the court giving details of the progress made on the sealing front.The court directed the Monitoring Committee to file weekly.....

Rupee opens firm at 44.86/87 per USD

Mumbai, Nov 7: The rupee today opened firm by three paise and was quoted at Rs 44.86/87 per US dollar as compared to its previous close of Rs 44.89 per USD, a money market trader said.Later, the domestic currency rose to Rs 44.80/81 per USD, and is now trading high at Rs 44.81/82 per USD due to fresh dollar demand by banks, forex dealers said.UNI.....
