HC restrains UP Board from finalising exam centre

Allahabad, Nov 7 (UNI) Allahabad High Court today directed Uttar Pradesh Madhyamik Shiksha Parishad not to finalise the examination centres under the self-examination centre scheme for high school and intermediate examination 2007.

The order was passed by Justice S N Srivastava hearing a writ petition filed by committee of management, Mohan Singh Inter College, Mathura.

The college moved the court challenging an order of the Parishad, by which the college was delisted from self examination centre.

Earlier, by means of order of November 1, 2006, the court had asked the state government to show cause, why new system of examination centre may not be replaced by old examination scheme.

The court was of the view that because of self examination centre at the same college, mass copying has become a business enterprises in UP.

Admissibility of Janardhana Reddy's petitions: Hearing adjourned

Bangalore, Nov 7 (UNI) The Karnataka High Court today adjourned hearing on the admissibility of two petitions, filed by suspended BJP Legislator Janardhana Reddy, seeking quashing of defamation proceedings initiated against him by the State Government in the sessions court here. Mr Justice Kabbin posted the petitions for further hearing. 2 Unani practitoners arrested in Malegaon blasts case

Mumbai, Nov 7 (UNI) Two Unani practitioners were arrested late last night in connection with Malegaon blasts case taking the total number of arrests in this case to five so far. Dr Salman Farsi Abdul Latif Aimi (35) was arrested from Govandi while Dr Farogh Anwar Iqbal Ahmed Magdumi (33) was arrested from Malegaon. The duo was produced before MCOCA court judge Mrudula Bhatkar today who remanded them in ATS custody till November 21......

Corporate I-T payers can file returns electronically

Bhopal, Nov 7: About 4,000 corporate Income Tax payers in Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh will be able to file their returns electronically.''About Rs 2,000 crore worth of returns from Bhopal, Indore and Raipur circles are likely to be filed in this remarkably easy manner.
