Haryana to produce 66 lakh quintals sugar

Chandigarh, Nov 7 (UNI) Haryana has set a target of producing 66 lakh quintals sugar during the current financial year.

This information was given by state Agriculture Minister Harmohinder Singh Chatha while presiding over a meeting of the Sugarcane Control Board here today.

He informed the meeting that all sugar mills of the state will commence cane crushing by the end of November. About 664 lakh quintals of sugarcane will be crushed during the current crushing session as compared to 419 lakh quintals cane crushed last year.

The crushing operation of various sugar mills during the last year was also reviewed in the meeting.
