Ensure facilities to district panchayat woman president: MP Speaker

Bhopal, Nov 7 (UNI) Madhya Pradesh Vidhan Sabha Speaker Ishwardas Rohani today directed the government to ensure availability of all facilities from the administration to the dalit woman president of the Indore district panchayat and fix responsibility of officials for laxity.

Raising the issue during question hour, Mr Premchand Guddu (Congress) said the Indore district panchayat was without a private secretary for the past one-and-half years.

While she was eligible for allocation of 'E' type government house, it was being said that she would be given house meant for class IV officials.

Dissatisfied with the reply of Minister of State for Panchayat and Rural Development Gangaram Patel, Mr Rohani said it was the responsibility of the state government to ascertain whether the facilities provided by it was reaching the district panchayat president.

Mr Arjun Palia (SP) and some other opposition members alleged that the government was making wrong statements and neglecting Dalits.

The Speaker directed Panchayat and Rural Development Minister Narendra Singh Tomar to ensure all benefits, including a private secretary, to the Indore district panchayat president.

Mr Tomar said the Speaker's direction will be taken on a top priority basis and necessary action will be ensured.

Mumbai, Nov 7 (UNI) British Foreign Minister Margaret Beckett today called on Maharashtra Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh at Mantralaya here this morning.
