Eighteen injured in road accident

Tiruchirapalli, Nov 7: Eighteen people, including eleven women, were injured when a State Transport Corpoation bus carrying them capsized at Maanpidimangalam village near here today.

Police said the accident occurred when the driver of the bus, while attempting to overtake another bus, lost control over the vehicle. The bus was proceeding to Chathiram bus stand from Therkku Sithambur.

The injured, who were trapped inside the bus, were rescued by the local residents.

All the injured, including three school children were admitted to the Government Hospital here.

The vehicular traffic between Manachanallur and Trichy was affected due to the accident and efforts were on to restore the traffic and to remove the bus, police added.
