Drunk man fires to scare neighbour, arrested

New Delhi, Nov 7 (UNI) Police have arrested a 45-year-old man in Mukherjee Nagar area of North-West Delhi this evening, after he fired in the air following a quarrel with his neighbour.

Murli Sharma, owner of a glassware shop, was arrested on the complaint of his neighbour for threatening him by ''firing in the air'' following an argument, DCP (North-West) Manish Agarwal told UNI.

''Murali was absolutely drunk when he fired in the air from his double-barrel gun to scare his neighbour,'' Mr Agarwal said.

The shot was not aimed at anyone, he said.

''He has been arrested under Section 506 for endangering public life.'' Denying reports that the firing took place where traders were protesting during today's 'bandh', the DCP said, ''It had nothing to do with the 'bandh' or trader's protests.'' Murali would regularly have tiffs with his neigbours and today's quarrel was over the neighbourhood drain, he added.

Meanwhile, sources in a trade body said, the incident took place while a trader's meeting was on closeby.
