Dacoit killed in encounter

Satna, MP, Nov 6 (UNI) A dacoit, carrying a reward of Rs 5,000 on his head, was arrested during a two-hour-long encounter with Thokia dacoit gang near Moni Baba ashram at Mohamgarh in this district, police said today.

After receiving a tip-off on November 5 that dacoit Thokia was planning a major operation along with his friends in the area, three police teams were formed and the Thokia gang was attacked.

Both sides exchanged fire in the ensuing encounter during which Thokia managed to escape but another dacoit Dadulal Adivasi alias Vidhayak (38) was arrested.

During the encounter, 23 rounds were fired by police. A 12-bore countrymade gun and five cartridges were seized.

2 children dead in a bus accident in Muzaffarnagar

Lucknow, Nov 7: Two children were killed and 22 others injured when the school bus ferrying them fell from the Bawandara bridge in Muzaffarnagar city district this morning.According to the police, the bus of S N Public School lost control and fell from the bridge after breaking the divider. It was carrying 28 children to the school.Local villagers rescued 22 children. All the students were rushed to the hospital for mekdical aid as they sustained injuries......

Police constable killed in NKashmir

Baramulla, Nov 7: Militants shot dead a police constable and wounded a labourer in north Kashmir overnight, official sources said today.They said militants entered the house of police constable Abdul Rashid Mir at Chak-e-Surmarg, Handwara in the frontier district of Kupwara late last night and shot him.Mir, posted at Chugal Handwara, was on leave.Militants shot at and wounded critically labourer Mohammad Shafi Choppan at Sopore in this district last night.Choppan was hospitalised, the sources.....

Akamba alleges BRTF of selling road materials to public

Kohima, Nov 07 (UNI) Nagaland Congress' senior leader R L Akamba has alleged the Border Road Organization (BRO), presently working as the Border Road Task Force (BRTF), of selling huge road construction materials to the public.
