Court declares Shahabuddin's writ as infructuous

Patna, Nov 7 (UNI) Patna High Court today declared the writ filed by controversial RJD MP Mohammed Shahabuddin for better treatment as "infructuous" following shifting of the petitioner to Siwan jail after treatment for his spinal problems.

A single bench of the court of Justice V N Sinha said there was no need to continue the writ as the petitioner was operated upon at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) and was shifted back to Siwan jail.

The state government apprised the court during the day that the MP was being shifted to Siwan jail after his successful operation at AIIMS.

Earlier on the direction of court, Md Shahabuddin was sent to AIIMS for spinal chord treatment. Hearing the writ petition of Md Shahabuddin, the court one one hand asked the government for expediting proper treatment of the petitioner at AIIMS and also directed the government to hold the trial.

Tension in SMC Power Plant as worker dies in accident

Sambalpur, Nov 7 (UNI) Tension prevailed inside the SMC Power Plant at Hirma following the death of a worker inside the factory premises today. Police said one Nagar Bariha (30) working in SMC power Limited died this afternoon following an accident inside the factory. Bariha fell from a tower and died. The plant authorities rushed him to the district headquarters hospital at Jharsuguda but doctors declared him brought dead. Soon.....

Unseasonal rains claim 4 lives in Gujarat

Bhavnagar, Gujarat, Nov 7 (UNI) Four persons were killed in different parts of Gujarat after being struck by lightning during the last 24 hours. According to reports reaching here, a woman farm labourer, Vasantben Ravjibhai Koli (40) was killed while Aminaben Yunushbhai Ghanchi (30) was seriously injured after being struck by lightning at Mota Khutvada village in Mahuva taluka of Bhavnagar district. A 25-year-old youth, Nareshbhai Valjibhai Ladumore, was also killed after being struck.....
