Cong replies to Bhat Commission

Bangalore, Nov 7: Congress has submitted a reply in respect to U L Bhat Commission of Inquiry appointed to inquire into the illegal mining, however declined to participate in the inquiry, Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) spokesman V S Ugrappa said today.

Stating that Judicial Commission would help only detecting the culprits but not in punishing those involved, Mr Ugrappa told newsmen that there is no change in the stand of Congress party on demand for an inquiry by CBI into the illegal mining in the State.

VHP activists beat up mediapersons in Ajmer

Ajmer, Nov 7 (UNI) Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) activists today beat up mediapersons who were covering a dispute over shifting a temple in city's Christianganj area. Mediamen, who were thrashed in the presence of police, demanded the arrest of VHP activists and suspension of Christianganj police station incharge Shankar Lal Ojha. They blocked the road for over two hours. According to information, city's Urban Improvement Trust is constructing a Gaurav Path near the Annasagar.....

Unseasonal shower with hailstone lashed many parts of region

Rajkot, Nov 7 (UNI) Many parts of the Saurashtra region today experienced unseasonal showers, reports reaching here said. Parts of Junagadh, Bhavnagar, Amreli and Rajkot districts received light unseasonal showers accompanied by hailstones, reports said. Manipur organises first tourism festival

Imphal, Nov 7 (UNI) A four-day tourism festival for promotion of travelling in Manipur began with a call to withdraw restriction of entry on foreigners. The organisers, Manipur Tourism department, Manipur Mountaineering and Trekking Association, Seven Sisters Tourism Services, among others, said yesterday that due to restrictions imposed on the state by the Centre, no foreigner could come since Manipur became a part of the Indian union in 1949. The festival would continue till November.....
