Clerk nabbed while accepting bribe in Nanded

Nanded, Nov 7 (UNI) Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) sleuths today nabbed a clerk attached to the Charity Commissioners's office while allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 500, for issuing a registration certificate in favour of an institution, here.

ACB sources said the clerk, Mr Chandu Waghmare had allegedly demanded a bribe of Rs One thousand from one Mr Khan Sajid for issuance of a certificate of registration of his institution with the charity commissioner, for which he had applied for on October 31.

Mr Sajid approached the ACB and consequently an ACB team trapped the clerk red-handed while accepting Rs 500 today.

The clerk has been arrested and an offence has been booked under sections 7/13 (1) of the Anti-Corruption Act, ACB sources added.

CM urges Planning Board to study reasons behind farmers' suicides

Mumbai, Nov 7 (UNI) Maharashtra Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh has urged the State Planning Board to constitute a team to study the reasons for suicides by farmers and to suggest ways to prevent the same. VSNL gets SC/ST Commission notice for discrimination

New Delhi, Nov 7 (UNI) Videsh Sanchar Nigam Ltd (VSNL), in which the Tata group has a majority stake, has been served a notice by the National Commission for Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes for alleged discrimination against an SC/ST employee.
