CII comes out with bi-annual survey on Pondy

Puducherry, Nov 7 (UNI) The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) Southern Region has come out with a bi-annual economic survey covering Puducherry to assess its performance in tourism, IT, automotive and auto compnent industries during the first half of the current fiscal.

According to the survey, there was an increase by 35 per cent in the flow of tourists into the union territory during the six months period compared to 2005-06. Tourism revenues also rose a healthy 25 per cent in the period.

The survey said the government here should develop tourism infrastructure and give adequate training to service providers in improving the overall efficency in the tourism sector, a CII release here said.

Referring to the performance of IT sector here, the survey claimed there was a growth of 20 to 30 per cent in the mobilisation of revenue besides an increase by 30 per cent in overseas billing.

The survey also highlighted the performance in automotive and auto components, food processing and chemical industries in the union territory.

While concluding the final argument in the case, counsel of the political couple, Rana Pratap Singh said that sanction for prosecution granted by the Governor against Mr Prasad was not valid and legal. Inspector ends life

Villupuram, Nov 7 (UNI) A 55-year old Inspector of Police-- attached to Tirukoilur Circle, allegedly committed suicide by shooting himself with his service revolver, at his office at Tirukoilur near here today. Police said the official Ananthanarayanan had assumed office following his transfer from Chennai only a few months back. On information, top police officials rushed to the spot and removed the body for post mortem. Police said investigation was under way to unravel.....

Former cricketer, Manoj Prabhakar settles matrimonial dispute

New Delhi, Nov 7 (UNI) Former cricketer Manoj Prabhakar and his wife Sandhya today settled their matrimonial dispute before a local court here. According to the settlement reached before the court of Shri Vinod Kumar, Additional Session Judge, New Delhi, Manoj Prabhakar shall transfer the entire basement in house no R-65, Greater KailashI, New Delhi and entire property at R-10 Nehru Enclave, Kalkaji in favour of Sandhya. Besides, he has been asked to pay.....
