Compact Disc India Ltd to expand animation biz

New Delhi, Nov 7: Compact Disc India Ltd will expand its animation business by setting-up additional studios at Chennai and Thiruvananthapuram within the current financial year.

The company is also producing two big budget Hollywood films jointly with iMedia Ventures Ltd.

However, the films will be officially announced before the end of this year at New York, CDIL told BSE today.

CDIL posted 91 per cent increase in the sales turnover for the quarter ended September 30, 2006 at Rs 12.22 crore as compared to Rs 6.39 crore in the corresponding quarter last year.

The group has presence in 28 countries with an annual turnover of 200 million dollars.

Cong replies to Bhat Commission

Bangalore, Nov 7: Congress has submitted a reply in respect to U L Bhat Commission of Inquiry appointed to inquire into the illegal mining, however declined to participate in the inquiry, Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) spokesman V S Ugrappa said today.Stating that Judicial Commission would help only detecting the culprits but not in punishing those involved, Mr Ugrappa told newsmen that there is no change in the stand of Congress party on demand for an inquiry by CBI.....

SC admits appeal by life imprisonment convicts

New Delhi, Nov 7 (UNI) The Supreme Court has admitted the appeal filed by 17 convicts sentenced to life imprisonment for the massacre of six dalits including the president and the vice-president of a village panchayat in Tamil Nadu. The six dalits including Murugesan, the president and Mookan, the vice-president of Melavalavu panchayat were beheaded on June 30, 1997 by the upper caste people. In all 40 accused faced trial and 23 were acquitted.....
