CBI inquiry in Khairlanji massacre if needed: Patil

Mumbai, Nov 7 (UNI) Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister R R Patil today assured that if investigations into the massacre of a dalit family at Khairlanji in Bhandara did not progress satisfactorily, it would be handed over to the CBI.

Mr Patil gave the assurance to a delegation, led by Republican Party of India MP Ramdas Athavale, which called unpon him today.

He also assured that the judiciary would be requested to set up a fast track court to hear the case on a priority basis.

Mumbai, Nov 7 (UNI) Former India captain and one of the all time greats of Indian cricket Polly Umrigar passed away here this evening. He was 80 and is survived by his wife, two sons and a daughter.
