Bollywood artists to be honoured

Bhopal, Nov 7: Bollywood artists from Madhya Pradesh will be honoured during the four-day film festival -- being organised by the state culture department -- that gets underway here tomorrow.

Official sources said Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan will inaugurate the programme, which will be chaired by Public Relations Minister Narendra Singh Tomar. Culture Minister Lakshmikant Sharma will be the special guest for the occasion.

Mr Chouhan will honour Madhya Pradesh-based artists presently working in Mumbai film industry on the occasion.

During the festival, Sudhir Mishra-directed 'Hazar Khwaishen' will be screened on November 8.

On the concluding day, Sunil Dutt's 'Mujhe jeene do' will be screened. The last movie to be screened will be 'Jis desh mein Ganga behti hai'.

Other movies to be screened include: Amol Palekar-directed 'Thoda sa Rumani ho jayen' (November 9), S N Tripathi-directed 'Rani Rupmati' (November 9), Gulzar-directed 'Kinara' (November 10) and B R Chopra-directed 'Naya Daur (November 10).

2 students die as bus falls into river

Lucknow, Nov 7 (UNI) Two children were killed and 32 others received injuries when the school bus ferrying fell into the river Kali in Muzaffarnagar this morning. According to the police, the bus of S N Public School lost control fell in the river after breaking the railings of Bawandara bridge around 0730 hrs. Working group recommends Weather Insurance scheme for Coffee growers

Bangalore, Nov 7 (UNI) The first meeting of the Sub-group on Plantation sector has recommended to the centre to introduce a Weather Insurance Scheme to protect the coffee growers from the vagaries of adverse weather. The group, headed by Coffee Board Chairman, in its interim report dealt in detail about the plight of Coffee growers across the country, also suggested comprehensive replanting programme with appropriate financial incentives to convert senile Coffee blocks.....

UN demands assurances on Sri Lanka probe

COLOMBO, Nov 7 (Reuters) The United Nations has welcomed a probe by Sri Lanka's government into a series of extrajudicial killings and disappearances amid a new chapter of the island's civil war, but is concerned it could be hampered.
