Bajaj appointed OSD to T N governor

New Delhi, Nov 7 (UNI) Mr Jasbir Singh Bajaj, Joint Resident Commissioner at the Tamil Nadu house here, has been posted as Officer on Special duty to Tamil Nadu governor Surjit Singh Barnala.

He will be stationed in Delhi and would continue to hold charge of the Joint Resident Commissioner.

6600 people from K'taka to undertake Haj pilgrimage

Mysore, Nov 7 (UNI) Karnataka Wakf and Haj Minister Zameer Ahmed Khan today said 6,600 people have been selected from the State for Haj pilgrimage out of the 11,000 applications received this year, with priority given to first timers. Inaugurating the day-long training and immunisation programme for Haj pilgrims of Mysore, Mandya and Chamarajanagara here, he said 778 pilgrims from the three districts would be leaving for Mecca from Bangalore on November 22,.....

TN traders body convey support to Delhi traders

Chennai, Nov 7: Members of the Tamil Nadu Traders Federation (TNTF) staged a slogan-shouting demonstration here today in support of the ongoing agitation by Delhi traders against the Supreme Court order to resume sealing of commercial establishments in residential areas of the national capital.Speaking on the occasion, TNTF President Mr T Vellaiyan urged the Centre to enact special legislation and protect the interests of about five lakh traders. Microsoft launches ambitious rural training prog

Pune, Nov 7: Around 1200 youth from 350 villages of Maharashtra would soon be able to find themselves a job in IT related fields without leaving their villages and in the process make 60,000 villagers computer literate, following an ambitious rural training programme launched by software giant Microsoft. Mr Pradeep Lokhande, Consultant, Indian Society of Agribusiness Professionals(ISAP), Delhi, that is implementing the project, informed reporters here today that the ongoing Unlimited Potential Programme(UPP) an initiative of Microsoft's Community Affairs.....

New Delhi, Nov 7: Employees' Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) today deferred to next month revision of EPF interest rate that Left trade unions say should be restored to its original 9.5 per cent from the present 8.5 per cent.After a nearly four-hour meeting, chaired by new Minister of State for Labour (Independent Charge), Oscar Fernandes, it was decided to hold the next meeting before December 10.The sub-committee formed earlier under the chairmanship of Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh vice-president.....

OIA ministry to institute awards for Overseas indian workers

New Delhi, Nov 7 (UNI) A few overseas Indian workers will be honoured at the fifth "Pravasi Bharatiya Divas" in the capital city during January 7-9 next year. In the previous four editions, only outstanding and eminent NRIs were honoured in recognition of their contribution in different fields.
