Arkalgud records 10 cms rainfall

Bangalore, Nov 7 (UNI) Following is a summary of observations recorded by the weather office here at 0830 hrs today.

Rainfall occurred at most places over South Interior Karnataka; at many places over Coastal Karnataka and at isolated places North Interior Karnataka.

Heavy Rainfall amounts (cm): Arkalgud 10; Mudigere 9; Mangalore 8; Koppa 7.

Other chief rainfall amounts (cm): Mangalore AP, Byadgi, Sringeri, Turuvegere, Mandya 5 each; Mudibidre, Jayapura, Kammardi, Sakleshpura, Arsikere, T.Narsipura, Tiptur 4 each; Bantwal, Belthangadi, Sulya, Kundapur, Sirsi, Joida, Manvi, Lingasugur, Shikaripur, Linganamakki, Shimoga, Panchanahalli, Holenarsipura, Hunsur, K.R.Sagara, Bellur, Nagamangala, Malavalli, Hessarghatta, Gubbi 3 each.

Minimum temperatures fell at most places over North Interior Karnataka and changed little over Coastal Karnataka and South Interior Karnataka. They were above normal at a few places over South Interior Karnataka and were normal over Coastal Karnataka and North Interior Karnataka.

Dharwad recorded the lowest minimum temperature of 18 deg.

Forecast valid until Thursday morning: Rain/thundershowers likely to occur at many places over Coastal Karnataka and South Interior Karnataka and at isolated places over North Interior Karnataka.

Farmers Weather Bulletin: Light to moderate rain likely to occur at many places over Dakshina Kannada, Udupi, Kodagu, Shimoga, Chikmagalur, Hassan, Mysore, Mandya, Chamarajnagara, Kolar, Bangalore Rural, Bangalore Urban, Bellary, Davanagere, Chitradurga, Tumkur districts; at a few places over Uttara Kannada, Bijapur, Bagalkote, Gadag districts and at isolated places over remaining districts of the State.

Local forecast: Generally cloudy. One or two spells of light to moderate rain likely. Minimum temperature would be around 20 deg.

AP to begin cruise tourism in port city: Minister

Chennai, Nov 7: The Andhra Pradesh Government has signed a MoU with IL& FS recently to start cruise tourism in Visakhapatnam connecting it with Andaman, Kanniyakumari and Sri Lanka, State Tourism Minister J Geetha Reddy today said.Addressing the inaugural session of one-day seminar on Air Connectivity organised by the Air Travellers Association of India (ATA), Dr Reddy made a fervent appeal to managements of local hotel chains to set up beach resorts at Visakhapatnam as the new tourism policy.....

India to sign labour agreement with Gulf countries

New Delhi, Nov 7: Amid reports of cheating and harassment of migrant workers abroad, India has been negotiating with major labour receiving countries to enter into a bilateral labour agreement or Memoranda of Understanding (MoU) in the interest of promotion of overseas employment of Indian workers and protecton of their rights.''Bilateral agreements formalise government-to-government engagement and can facilitate better management of international migration as an orderly and humane process aimed at benefiting both countries apart from the emigrants,'' Overseas.....

Mediamen take out rally against UNI takeover bid
