Airport police register case against customs official

Chennai, Nov 7 (UNI) Airport police today registered a case against a customs official for allegedly assaulting a passenger hailing from Singapore, who arrived here by Indian flight.

The passenger, Khaja Moideen who owns a newspaper mart in Singapore came here to visit some of his relatives. He brought a colour television from there with original bills to give it to one of his relatives.

When he kept it for customs clearance, the package Superintendent Manoharan allegedly asked for a bribe of Rs 5,000 from him to clear his package, especially the colour television box.

The passenger argued with the official and the official allegedly in an inebriated condition slapped the passenger and he fell down.

The co-passengers and the CRPF men came to the rescue of the passenger. The customs officials pacified the passenger and cleared all his packages.

However, the passenger lodged a complaint with with airport police, against the customs official.

Police registered a case against the customs official and were investigating.

Young woman and her child found dead

Minor administrative reshuffle in MP

Bhopal, Nov 7 (UNI) In a minor administrative reshuffle, the Madhya Pradesh government today transferred a few officers of the Indian Administrative Service and modified the charges of some others, official sources said.
