2 students die as bus falls into river

Lucknow, Nov 7 (UNI) Two children were killed and 32 others received injuries when the school bus ferrying fell into the river Kali in Muzaffarnagar this morning.

According to the police, the bus of S N Public School lost control fell in the river after breaking the railings of Bawandara bridge around 0730 hrs. The bus was carrying 34 children to school from nearby villages.

The bus was coming from Rohana to the city when the accident took place after the axil of the vehicle broke.

A class III student Rohit was critically injured and was immediately rushed to a Meerut hospital. Two other students were also seriously injured. But the police could not identify them immediately.

All the students have been admitted to the hospital for medical treatment.

Police said efforts were going on to lift the bus from the river bed.

Senior police and district officials were camping on the spot besides monitoring the relief and rescue operation.

The driver and cleaner of the vehicle is absconding after the accident.
