ZTC appeals to undergrounds

Kohima, Oct 18: The Zunheboto Town Council and the Zunheboto Town GBs' Association have jointly appealed to the warring Naga underground factions not to stay in the town with arms and ammunition.

A press release issued jointly by ZTC deputy chairperson Kitoho S. Rotokha, the GBs' Association general secretary Vihoto Chophy and its vice-chairman Luzheto Ayo said a decision towards this effect was taken at an emergency consultative meeting held yesterday.

The decision was made in view of the ensuing school and college examinations, annual conference of social and churches'organisations, harvesting season and other festivals, the signatories added.

Shillong, Oct 18: Three Manipur-based United National Liberation Front (UNLF) militants arrested from the Indira Gandhi International Airport in New Delhi were brought to Shillong last night. The trio, identified as self-styled Colonels Jayant Kumar, Ghanshyan Kumar Singh and Shyam Kumar, were said to be facilitators and handed over to Meghalaya police by Delhi police yesterday.
