Yahoo launches chat in Hindi, Tamil

Bangalore, Oct 18 (UNI) Yahoo! India, the largest internet brand in the country, today announced the launch of Yahoo! Indichat plug-in to enable users to chat in Hindi and Tamil without any need for a language keyboard.

The user could just load the Side Panel plug-in and start chatting in Hindi and Tamil. It also offered other plug-ins which facilitate chat in other Indian languages like Telugu, Marathi, Bengali, Gujarati and Malayalam, the company said in a release here.

Also, a user with any language keyboard could chat on Yahoo! Messenger 8.0 in that language.

The plug-in feature would revolutionise user experience on Yahoo! Messenger 8.0 by enabling music, finance, games, answers and many more features in their messenger window, the release said.

''We continuously innovate, make relevant and localise our communication products in our effort to provide the best Web experience possible,'' Yahoo! India Managing Director George Zacharias said.

Users could download Indichat plug-in for Hindi and Tamil from http://in.gallery.yahoo.com into their Yahoo! Messenger 8.0. The service would be rolled out in other Indian languages soon.

OBC quota: SC had not directed to file copy of panel report
