Various organisations placed demands before NFR GM

Agartala, Oct 18 (UNI) Various organisations in Tripura have demanded extension of railway line upto Sabroom, close to Bangladesh border, and introduction of two passenger trains between Dharmanagar in North district and Manu in Dhalai district, among other things.

The organisations, including Railway Demand Committee(RDC) and Business Committee, placed the demands to North East Frontier Railway(NFR) General Manager(open line) Anil Kumar Sanwalka during his recent visit to the state.

The RDC of Dharmanagar gave a deputation in support of eight-point charter of demands and requested him to meet their requirements in the interest of Tripura.

The other demands include filling up of all vacant posts in the railway from the state's unemployed and promotion of railway town Dharmanagar into a railway division level.

Mr Sanwalka led a high-level delegation to Dharmanagar to have a spot study about the ongoing railway work between Manu and this capital city.

A delegation of businessmen gave a deputation to NFR Silchar Divisional Manager Madhu Kar stating the problems faced by wholesellers regarding transporting goods by train to the Dharmanagar station.

The delegation also urged Mr Kar to hold meetings of Rail Advisory Committee in Tripura.

Seven FM Rainbow India channels launched in J

Srinagar, Oct 18 (UNI) Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Priya Ranjan Dasmunsi today launched seven FM Rainbow India channels in different parts of Jammu and Kashmir. The channels were launched simultaneously from Srinagar, Jammu, Leh, Poonch, Bhaderwah, Nowshera and Rajouri. Inaugurating the channels from the Sher-i-Kashmir International Convention Centre (SKICC) here, Mr Dasmunsi said these would help in developing greater interaction between the youth of the state through the medium of 'Akashvani'.....

CPM dubs BJD's "Bijaya Yatra" victory for industrialists

Bhubaneswar, Oct 18 (UNI) CPI(M)'s Orissa unit today described the 'Bijaya Yatra' organised by the ruling BJD in the state as victory for the industralists ''who had successfully grabbed'' forest,mines and land in the guise of setting up industries. Party's state unit secretary Janardan Pati told newsmen here that the government was taking credit of handing over the resources land to industrial houses when over two crore people, including thirty lakh landless ones, were.....

CLP demands action against TDP leader in bomb blast case

Hyderabad, Oct 18 (UNI) The Congress Legislature Party (CLP) today appealed to the Union Home Minister Shivaraj Patil to accord permission to CBI to prosecute Dr Kodela Shivaprasada Rao, former TDP Minister and official spokesperson of the party in the bomb blast case of 1999, in which four persons were killed. In a letter to the Union Minister, party chief whip N Kiran Kumar Reddy and CLP Executive Committee member V Vasanta Kumar said on.....
